Biographical Sketch

 

After completing his Ph.D. at Clemson University, Dr. Sekharan served as an assistant professor at the Center for Parallel Computation, Department of Computer Science, University of Central Florida. He served as a faculty member at the department of computer science at Loyola University Chicago from 1993 through 2021 including serving as chair of the department for 10 years. He joined Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in January 2022 as Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science.  Dr. Sekharan’s main research interests include Large Language Models, Autonomous and High Performance Systems, Benchmarking in parallel and distributed computing environments, Big data compression, and network optimization. He has published more than 70 papers in the above areas. He has performed funded research for federal  agencies such as NSF, and the US Army Research Labs. He has consulted on high-performance software projects for United Airlines, Amoco Chemicals, and SAIC and on web-related intellectual property patent issues for Chicago area law firms.
